About Us
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on April 14, 2017, this library was inaugurated by Honorable Member of Parliament Shri Nishikant Dubey (Godda Lok Sabha), former Bihar Minister Shri Krishnanand Jha, former Jharkhand Minister Shri Suresh Paswan, MLA Shri Narayan Das, former MLA Shri Kameshwar Nath Das, along with Arwa Rajkamal (Deputy Commissioner), Police Superintendent Smt. A. Vijayalakshmi, and other intellectuals from the society.
Ground Floor:
This floor is allocated exclusively for female students and differently-abled individuals.
The construction of the ground floor was funded through community contributions of ₹5,56,000/-, an MLA fund of ₹2,00,000/- provided by then-MLA Shri Kameshwar Nath Das, and an amount of approximately ₹22,77,350/- granted by the Urban Development Department, Government of Jharkhand. Thus, the total expenditure for the construction of the ground floor (building only) amounted to ₹30,33,350/- (Thirty lakh thirty-three thousand three hundred fifty rupees).
Other facilities such as bookshelves, sofa-type benches, tables, water RO system, inverter, battery, LED TV, CCTV, and books were arranged through public contributions. This floor has a seating capacity of 128 students at a time. Additionally, two rooms have been allocated for students to conduct group discussions. This floor is also equipped with five internet-enabled computer sets.
First Floor:
The first floor was constructed in 2018 at a cost of ₹22,57,500/- (Twenty-two lakh fifty-seven thousand five hundred rupees) from the MP fund of Honorable Member of Parliament, Godda Lok Sabha, Shri Nishikant Dubey. The arrangement of sofa-type benches, tables, bookshelves, books, water RO, and a projector on this floor was made through social contributions. This floor also has six internet-enabled computer sets and can accommodate approximately 150 students for study at a time.
Second Floor:
The second floor was constructed in 2019 at a cost of ₹25,00,000/- (Twenty-five lakh rupees) from the MLA fund of Honorable MLA of Deoghar Assembly, Shri Narayan Das. The arrangement of sofa-type benches, tables, bookshelves, CCTV, audio system, water RO, etc., on this floor was made through public contributions. This floor also has a provision for guest lectures. Six internet-enabled computer sets have been installed here, and it can accommodate up to 200 students at a time.
Third Floor:
A large shed was constructed on the third floor by the Library Management Committee with social contributions amounting to ₹12,00,000/- (Twelve lakh rupees). This floor has a seating capacity for approximately 100-150 students, with sofa-type benches, tables, etc., provided through community support.
Significant Features of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Library, Deoghar
A total of 18,613 students from various social backgrounds have enrolled in this library, including 16,087 male and 2,526 female students.
The library serves students from 87 districts across 14 states of India, including Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh.
The library receives 15 types of competitive magazines (95 copies) monthly and 11 newspapers (50 copies) daily for students.
The library houses 25,000 books in 106 bookshelves, covering all competitive exams, religious, and social awareness topics.
The library operates 24 hours a day.
On average, 900-1000 male students and 100-160 female students study here daily.
To ensure uninterrupted 24-hour electricity, the library is equipped with 11 battery inverters, a solar power system with 24 batteries, and a 25KVA generator set.
The library has 106 bookshelves, 203 sofa-type benches, and 112 tables.
Each floor has a 1000 LPH Water RO plant for clean drinking water.
In line with the plastic-free concept, 350 Milton steel bottles are used to serve water to students.
There are toilet facilities available for students on all four floors.
To efficiently manage the library, there are 12 librarians, 6 cleaning staff, 7 security guards, and 3 computer operators. The library has a dedicated office room with Computer Monitoring TV and CCTV facilities.
A total of 48 CCTV cameras have been installed inside and outside the library for discipline maintenance, monitored through 3 TV screens on the ground floor.
Guest lectures are conducted on the second floor to motivate students and enhance their knowledge.
The library provides books for students from Class 8 onwards, covering academic careers and various central and state-level competitive exams, such as:
SSC, JSSC, BPSC, UPSC, JSSC, BSSC, B.Ed., AIRFORCE, ARMY, NAVY, BHU, JNU, CDS, CAT, NET, UGC, MBA, JPSC, BANKING, RAILWAY, CTET, JRF, NEET, IIT, CLAT, CA, CS, MANAGEMENT, GATE, and Civil Services.
The library was registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, on May 19, 2017, in Deoghar with registration number 488/61.
